The official opening of the 25th Panhellenic Congress of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery – Angiology, held in Larissa on Thursday evening, began with awards honoring distinguished Greek and international scientists.
The congress started on March 19 and will conclude on March 21, 2026.
This year’s event holds special significance, marking a brilliant milestone for the Society and the wider scientific community. Twenty-five years of creative progress, development, and contribution are condensed into a congress that aims to become a reference point for our field.
With a rich, multi-level, and innovative scientific program, the congress aims to highlight the most modern trends and techniques, foster dialogue between generations of physicians, and create a fertile environment for the exchange of knowledge and experience. The thematic sessions, round tables, and lectures have been designed to comprehensively cover the knowledge domain of our specialty and inspire new ideas and collaborations.
Larissa, at the crossroads of Greece, will serve as the ideal meeting center, offering the warmth, vibrancy, and energy required for such an important scientific celebration.
The event was opened with a greeting by the President of the Hellenic Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the Organizing Committee of the congress, Mr. Athanasios Giannoukas, while greetings were also offered by: the Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Mr. Ieronymos; the General Secretary of the Decentralized Administration of Thessaly and Central Greece, Ms. Rena Karalariotou; the Deputy Mayor and member of the Board of the Larissa Medical Association, Mr. Aris Kartsaflekis; the Chair of the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, Mr. Aristeidis Zimpis; the President of the Hellenic Angiology Society, Mr. Dimitrios Staramos; the President of the Professional Association of Vascular Surgeons of Greece, Mr. Andreas Lazaros; the President of the Hellenic Phlebology Society, Mr. Efthymios Avgerinos; and the Director of the Vascular Surgery Clinic of the University General Hospital of Larissa, Mr. Miltiadis Matsagas.

Following the awards, a lecture on Hippocrates was delivered by Mr. Rizos Chaliampalias, President of the Association “Hippocrates in Larissa”.
